It is an stemless plant that can grow up to 60cm, but a small mature specimen is about 18cm in width and height. The leaves can curl and twist. The curl in the leaves can be controlled by the amount of water and humidity the plant receives. In a wetter, more humid environment, the leaves grow straighter. With dryer conditions, the leaves tighten into curled ringlets. When flowering, the petals are blue, united into a tube 4cm long and surpassed by the stamens. It needs bright and sunny conditions. It will also grow well under varied conditions. A decorative species and very much coveted by collectors.
